The gate to Paris' Marais District crosses the rue de Montmorency which is named after Anne de Montmorency, a friend of the king of France, François Ier de Valois. This ancient street was probably constucted during the Renaissance period. The neighborhood is full of "Hotel Particuliers" (historic stately mansions) and museums including the Musee Picasso, Archives Nationales, Musée Carnavalet, Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, Musée Cognac Jay, Art et Histoire du Judaisme, etc.. The nearby metro station is Rambuteau, and the metro hub, Place du Chatelet, is within a 10mn walk from the apartment.
